
Our ESK Lions have once again excelled in various inter-school tournaments throughout the island. Below is a summary of our recent sports achievements.
What an incredible week of sports at the TRNC Inter-school Championships, hosted by the Ministry of Education! These yearly events, drawing participants from schools throughout the region, offer a stage for young athletes to display their talents and compete for top honours in the country.
Fencing
The ESK Lions triumphantly claimed victory at the Ministry of Education Fencing tournament!
Among the standout performers, Year 9 fencing enthusiast Lukas, played like a true champion, achieving first place in his age category, while fellow Year 9 student Uygur, was no far behind, securing third place.
Year 10 student Alya and Year 5 student, Kerem, also showcased their talent by finishing in third place in their respective categories. Their outstanding performances have earned them all the opportunity to compete at the Türkiye Championships this month!
As they prepare for this next challenge, we will be cheering them all the way. The support from the school community and their fellow students will undoubtedly bolster their spirits as they embark on this exciting journey. Go Lions!
Badminton

ESK's Badminton team recently participated in the highly anticipated annual inter-school badminton tournament. This year, the competition was particularly fierce, with GAU presenting a formidable challenge as they fought tenaciously for the top spot.
Despite the intense competition and the outcome not favouring ESK this time around, our boys and girls demonstrated remarkable enthusiasm throughout the tournament. Each match was a test of their skills, stamina, and teamwork, and they pushed their limits, displaying resilience and sportsmanship in the face of adversity.
Table-Tennis
Our Lions performed exceptionally in Table Tennis. Our KS3 boys demonstrated outstanding skill and determination, claiming second place, while our KS3 girls, showcased remarkable tenacity and skill, securing a close yet impressive forth place overall in the tournament.
The atmosphere was certainly electric, filled with the cheers of supporters and the sound of paddles striking the ball. Each player displayed exceptional teamwork and the true spirit of camaraderie that defines our Lions.
Swimming
It was another phenomenal performance by the ESK Lions at the highly anticipated Inter-school Swimming Championships, both the Primary and Secondary school categories! 💦

Year 8’s Derin Mavi made waves with an impressive tally of two GOLD medals and two SILVER medals. Her extraordinary performances not only earned her accolades at the championships but also secured her a well-deserved spot to represent ESK at the prestigious Türkiye Championships, where she will compete against some of the best young swimmers in the country.
Brothers Mavi and Deniz, also shone brightly. Mavi, currently in Year 7, showcased his talent by bringing home a SILVER medal, while, Yera 6 student, Deniz, had an impressive performance, securing one SILVER medal along with three BRONZE medals.
Their hard work and passion for the sport are commendable, and we look forward to watching them strive for success in future competitions!

Football
It was a perfect sunny day for football at Happy Valley in Limassol! Our ESK Lions boys and girls teams took to the field for a friendly match against the teams from Foley’s School and St. John’s School.
Our athletes exhibited not only their technical abilities but also a strong sense of teamwork and sportsmanship, making every moment of the game thrilling to watch. Each goal scored was met with roaring applause, and every save was celebrated with cheers. As the match progressed, it was evident that all four teams were giving their all, showcasing their hard work and commitment during practice sessions leading up to this event.
Looking ahead, we are all eagerly anticipating next year’s showdown, where we hope to see even more exciting plays and a continuation of this friendly rivalry!
ESK Lions have certainly made their mark with outstanding displays of athleticism and sportsmanship this month! We not only celebrate the trophies, but also the countless hours of practice, strategy sessions with our dedicated coaches, and the resilience they showed in face of challenges.
